We are recruiting a Risk Officer to join our team full time.
Role Description We are seeking a knowledgeable and detail-oriented Risk Officer to join our team on a full-time, on-site basis at our offices in Swatar. The Risk Officer will support and oversee the risk management frameworks of assigned clients, particularly within the financial services sector, ensuring adherence to MFSA, EBA, and sector-specific standards.
Key responsibilities include: • Designing, implementing, and maintaining risk management frameworks• Identifying, assessing, and monitoring operational, financial, compliance, and strategic risks• Conducting risk assessments, including ICAAP/ICARA support where applicable• Preparing and updating risk registers, risk appetite statements, and incident logs• Analysing data to detect trends, vulnerabilities, and emerging risks• Advising clients on risk mitigation strategies and internal controls• Supporting internal audits and regulatory reviews• Preparing risk reports for senior management and regulators• Collaborating with compliance, AML, operations, and finance teams to ensure a holistic risk environment
Mandatory Requirements Candidates must meet the following criteria:• Previous experience working within an EMI and/or PSP, specifically in risk management, compliance, or related governance roles• Demonstrated understanding of MFSA Rulebooks, EBA Guidelines (including ICT/Operational Resilience), and financial risk frameworks• Familiarity with risk methodologies such as RCSA, ICARA/ICAAP, scenario analysis, and control testing• Strong analytical and reporting abilities
Qualifications & Skills • Bachelor’s degree in Risk Management, Finance, Business Administration, Criminology, Economics, or a related field• Professional certification (e.g., IRM, GRC, FRM, ICA Risk) is considered an asset• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with high attention to detail• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, especially in reporting and presenting risk findings• Ability to interpret regulatory expectations and translate them into effective internal frameworks• Solid understanding of financial services operations, especially those of EMIs and PSPs• Experience in crypto-asset or CASP environments, including familiarity with MiCA risk requirements, is considered an asset• Ability to work independently and manage multiple risk assignments• Commitment to ethical, transparent, and responsible risk governance
